A major redevelopment of the Victorian central station in Newcastle. Railtrack have completed major structural work within the original barrel roofed station structure. The two ends of the station have now been replaced with structural glass façades to produce a glass wall 24m long, 5.8m high supported on a tubular truss fabricated from 355mm diameter CHS.

All of the tendons and the fabricated plate connections were manufactured by Daver Steels. The bar tendons range from M16 to M42 and were all galvanised.

Horizontal tendons were supplied in 16 and 19mm dia galvanised cable were also supplied. Special T headed pins with end washers retained by cir-clips were machined. The plate connections were fabricated with threaded machined connections to take the stainless steel spider glazing connection.
