Project details:

A spectacular bar-stayed footbridge, spanning the dock and connecting new apartments with the nearest Docklands Light Railway Station. The bridge has been designed as a very slender structure, representing the sailing heritage of the dock.

Six masts support the bridge varying from almost 30m at one end to 10.6m at the middle. The end of the deck are backstopped to the level of the dock. The bars which support the deck are M30, M42, M56 and M64.

To adjust the tendon length all bars were supplied with a turnbuckle. Daver Steels advised upon and supplied an arrangement for tensioning the bars when installed.

Special tapered lock covers and a jacking frame arrangement enables the load to be relieved from the tendon and the turn buckle to be adjusted.
