John Pritchard BSc CEng MICE MIMechE

Managing Director

Having completed a Aeronautical Degree at City University in 1974 John gained his considerable engineering experience working for Redpath Dorman Long and the National Nuclear Corporation on projects such as the Humber Suspension Bridge and Torness Power Station before moving on to become Managing Director of McCalls Special Projects, now Macalloy Ltd. He is a Chartered Engineer and a Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers and Institute of Mechanical Engineers.

Whilst at McCalls John is widely acknowledged as being the main architect of the Macalloy 460 Architectural Tension Structure system. John was wholly responsible for the full design, approval and acceptance of the Macalloy 460 Tension Structure System into the world market.

John had key involvement in projects such as Kansai Air Terminal (Japan), Stansted Airport (UK), Chur Rail Terminal (Switzerland), Charles de Gaulle Rail Terminal (France) and the British Pavilion (Seville Expo). Whilst at Daver Steels John has managed projects such as The Paul Brown Stadium (USA), Paddington Station (glass facade UK), The New Parliamentary Building (London), Stratford Rail Station (UK), Barajas Airport (Spain) and the new M&S HQ Paddington.ng (London), Stratford Rail Station (UK), Barajas Airport (Spain) and the new M&S HQ Paddington.


Colin Jacobs BSc DBA PhD FMM

Director

Colin completed a Civil and Structural Engineering degree at University College Cardiff in 1989 and went on to complete a PhD in ground engineering also at Cardiff. From there he joined McCalls Special Projects (now Macalloy Ltd) as a project manager in the Tension Structure Team. He then ran the Prestressing Division and sales office before moving on.

Whilst at McCalls Colin managed many innovative and major projects including; Western Morning News (glass facade support, UK), Wanchai Conference Centre (glass facade support, Hong Kong), the RAC Building (Sunshades and glass facade support, UK), Burj Al Arab Hotel (Dubai).Burj Al Arab Hotel (Dubai).

Since leaving McCalls Colin become a Fellow in Manufacturing Management at Cranfield University prior to joining Daver Steels.

Projects worked on since being at Daver Steels include Blythe Bridge (UK), Lloyds TSB HQ (UK), Chiswick Park (UK), Hong Kong International Exhibition Centre, The New York Times Tower (USA), Toome Bridge (N Ireland), New Rheola Crossing (South Wales) and the Dublin Airport link bridge.


Tim Payne BSc DBA

Project Manager

Tim completed a Mechanical Engineering degree at Bath University in 1987. From there he joined ASW and worked in a range of areas from the steel works to a rebar processing unit, before joining McCalls Special Products (now Macalloy Ltd) as mechanical engineer and project manager before moving to Daver Steels.

Whilst at Macalloy managed a number of major and innovative projects including the Korean World Trade Centre and Trade Centre Pyramid (glass facade supports, Korea), Golden Jubilee Bridge (London) and Heathrow Terminal 5 (solar shading). Whilst at Macalloy Tim also developed the Macalloy 650 stainless fully threaded bar system as well as developing machines and processes.
